Getting a new job is exciting but can also be disheartening when your first paycheck isn’t what you expect. By understanding the compensation and pay structure ahead of time, you’ll start your career on the right foot. Becoming a Flight Attendant is no different; however, to really understand your compensation, you need to know some of the ways a Flight Attendant may be paid: hourly, per diem, open time, and bonuses.*
*This is solely based on my experience and isn’t meant to cover the compensation structures for every airline.
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it. It takes some experience to understand how you’ll be paid (or not!) for certain aspects of your Flight Attendant duties. While this video is focused on the hourly pay and commuter expenses, I’ll be posting another video with more specifics on how per diem, open time, and bonuses work as well so stay tuned!
As a Flight Attendant who has recently had to learn all the ins and outs of the pay structure, I want to share my experiences and insights with you.
